Namibia Celebrates Environmental Champions at the 4th Sustainable Development Award (SDA) Ceremony

On a starry evening at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort, Namibia celebrated its environmental champions at the fourth Sustainable Development Awards on June 19, 2024. The event, hosted by the Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT), recognized outstanding contributions across 11 categories, showcasing the nation's commitment to a sustainable future.

Hon. Minister Shifeta launches Namibia’s Second Integrated State of the Environment Report

Namibia’s Second National Integrated State of the Environment Report was launched on the 30th March 2022 and aims to communicate credible, timely and accessible information about the condition of the environment to decision makers, the general public and any other interested stakeholder.

2020/21 Annual Report of the Sustainable Development Advisory Council presented in the National Assembly

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism,  Hon. Pohamba Shifeta, tabled the Annual Report of the Sustainable Development Advisory Council for the 2020/21 financial year in the National Assembly on 6th October 2021.

The tabling of the 2020/21 Annual Report to the National Assembly is in fulfilment of the requirement of Section 15 (4) of the Environmental Management Act of 2007 (Act No. 7 of 2007).

Council contributes to international publication on “Pathways for national sustainable development advisory bodies”

An international publication, conducted under the auspices of the Global Forum of National SDG Advisory Bodies, was recently launched on “pathways for national sustainable development advisory bodies”. The publication compared and connected the experience of multi-stakeholder advisory commissions, councils and similar bodies for sustainable development from eight countries including Namibia, Belgium, Georgia, Kosovo, Mexico, Portugal, Romania and Senegal.

3rd Edition of the Sustainable Development Awards held in Windhoek

The third edition of the Sustainable Development Awards was held on Friday May 21stat the Safari Hotel under the theme “accelerating the green economy transformation as we recover from COVID-19”. The Sustainable Development Awards, first held in 2015, are the brainchild of the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia and Sustainable Development Advisory Council and are aimed at rewarding and showcasing outstanding performances that contribute to the sustainable development of the Namibian nation.
